About the Role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Bid Writer to join a forward-thinking construction and built environment organisation. This role will focus on developing compelling, compliant, and technically accurate bids, ensuring submissions meet client expectations and enhance the company’s competitive positioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bid Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management and project/operations teams to define winning bid strategies. Ensure bid proposals align with client requirements, project scope, and competitive positioning.
  • Technical Proposal Writing: Conduct project and client research to inform bid content. Develop clear, persuasive, and technically accurate bid responses, including CVs, organograms, method statements, risk assessments, and project timelines.
  • Compliance Documentation: Ensure all submissions comply with legal, regulatory, and health safety requirements relevant to construction. Keep up-to-date with construction procurement frameworks and public sector requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support the bid and operations teams by liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to gather input and validate content. Coordinate internal reviews and approvals to meet submission deadlines.
  • Bid Review Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-bid reviews to analyse outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Maintain a repository of successful bids, templates, and lessons learned for future use. Identify unique selling points (USPs) from completed projects for future bids.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in bid writing within construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement or social housing bids is desirable.
