Service Engineer – Security and Fire Systems

Location: Hertfordshire

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £35k - £45k basic plus overtime, travel time after 45 minutes, standby allowance £225 per week.

Position Overview

You'll deliver service and maintenance across security and fire systems for construction fit‑out sites, residential properties and large‑scale installations. Your work will be essential in keeping systems running smoothly and ensuring clients receive reliable support. You'll handle both routine maintenance and small works, working across diverse environments and building strong relationships with clients while contributing to the company's reputation for quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire detection systems across multiple sites.
  • Respond to call‑outs as part of a 1 in 6 rota, providing emergency support when needed.
  • Carry out planned maintenance visits and small installation works to agreed schedules.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical faults across security and fire systems.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all work completed.
  • Support clients with system queries and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

  • 5‑10 years' experience in security systems installation, service or maintenance.
  • Technical proficiency with CCTV systems (Hikvision, Hanwhua).
  • Experience with access control systems (Paxton, Brivo).
  • Knowledge of intruder alarm systems (Galaxy, Texecom).
  • Familiarity with fire detection systems (C‑Tec, Kentec, Advanced).
  • Multi‑disciplined approach with ability to work across different system types.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to travel to sites across the region.
  • Willingness to participate in on‑call rota arrangements.
