Position Overview
As Bid Manager, you'll be the central point of coordination for all bid-related activities, leading the complete bid process from tender review through to submission. You'll work closely with technical teams and manufacturer partners to develop compliant system solutions, build detailed cost models aligned to margin targets, and ensure every proposal meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy. This role is crucial to the company's controlled growth strategy, requiring you to balance commercial rigour with technical excellence while managing timelines, risk assessments, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end bid processes for large-scale projects, managing timelines and coordinating across Sales, Technical, and Operations teams.
- Review tender documentation and client requirements, making informed bid/no-bid decisions based on strategic fit and commercial viability.
- Develop bid strategies and maintain the strategic pipeline CRM to support business development planning.
- Build detailed cost models and conduct risk assessments, ensuring all bids align with margin targets and commercial objectives.
- Work with Technical Managers and manufacturer partners to develop compliant system solutions that meet client specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive proposals with high standards of presentation, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Develop and maintain bid templates and structured processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Manage and develop Bid Team Assistant(s), providing guidance, training, and fostering team efficiency.
- Conduct post-bid reviews and performance reporting, driving continuous improvement in bid processes and quality.
- Liaise with external partners including manufacturers and consultants to support proposal development.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading end-to-end bid processes for large-scale or complex projects.
- Strong project management and leadership skills with experience managing and developing team members.
- Excellent analytical abilities to interpret specifications, drawings, and technical requirements accurately.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security solutions or similar technical systems.
- Strong commercial acumen including cost modelling, margin analysis, and risk assessment.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills with ability to liaise across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with commitment to quality, compliance, and accuracy.
- Experience developing bid templates, processes, and documentation standards.
