Fire Engineer - Fire Detection Systems
Location: Scotland
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 basic salary

Our client is a growing fire and security integration specialist with ambitious expansion plans across Scotland. They're looking for a Fire Engineer to join their team during an exciting period of growth. Position Overview
As a Fire Engineer, you'll play a key role in installing, commissioning, servicing, and maintaining fire detection and life safety systems for a diverse range of customers. Your work will directly contribute to protecting buildings and the people within them, ensuring compliance with relevant fire safety standards. You'll manage both planned preventative maintenance visits and reactive repairs, troubleshoot complex faults, and oversee system upgrades, building lasting relationships with customers whilst supporting the company's growth across the region.
Responsibilities
  • Install and commission fire detection and life safety systems to specification and relevant fire safety standards
  • Carry out service and preventative maintenance visits, identifying potential issues before they become problems
  • Diagnose and repair faults in fire detection systems, ensuring swift resolution and minimal downtime
  • Perform small works and system upgrades, enhancing existing installations where required
  • Test and maintain emergency lighting systems, ensuring full compliance and operational readiness
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, providing professional and reliable service at every visit
  • Ensure all work meets relevant fire safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support the company's growth by delivering consistent, high-quality workmanship and customer care
Requirements
  • Proven experience installing, commissioning, servicing, and maintaining fire detection systems
  • Hands-on knowledge of industry-standard fire detection brands including Gent, Notifier, Morley, Advanced, Kentec, C Tec, Apollo, and Hochiki
  • Experience with aspirating detection systems such as VESDA
  • Competence in testing, maintenance, and small works on emergency lighting systems
  • Understanding of relevant fire safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
