I'm currently representing an independent health & safety consultancy that provides specialist advice and compliance services across a wide range of environments - from workplaces, construction sites, and schools to residential buildings, public spaces, and events. Due to a growing project pipeline, they are looking to engage an experienced self-employed Fire Engineering Consultant on a price-work basis.

About the Role:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced fire safety professional seeking project-based work. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive fire safety advice and solutions - covering everything from fire detection and prevention to suppression systems.

As a Fire Engineering Consultant, you will:

  • Produce clear, compliant Fire Strategies for new and existing buildings
  • Assess fire hazards, risks, and develop mitigation plans
  • Review and interpret fire detection, prevention, and suppression systems for a variety of sites
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and fire compartmentation surveys
  • Identify breaches, propose remedial works, and prepare technical specifications
  • Review fire safety systems and proposals from contractors to ensure suitability and compliance

As a Fire Engineering Consultant, you will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Fire Engineer or Fire Safety Consultant
  • Strong working knowledge of fire detection, prevention, suppression systems, and an understanding of their application across different sectors
  • Self-employed status - comfortable working on a price-work basis
  • In-depth knowledge of UK fire safety regulations: BS9999, RRFSO, PAS79, BS7974, ADB
  • Membership or affiliation with IFE
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and access to own transport
