Role Summary

Experienced Functional Consultant responsible for supporting and delivering Temenos Payment Hub (TPH) implementations across domestic, regional, and cross-border payment schemes.

The role requires strong payments domain knowledge, practical understanding of ISO 20022 message standards, and the ability to work closely with business, technology, product, and client stakeholders with minimal supervision.

The consultant will be expected to translate business requirements into functional solutions, support configuration and validation activities, prepare implementation documentation, and contribute to high-quality delivery across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support functional activities for Temenos Payment Hub (TPH) implementation, configuration, testing, and rollout.
  • Analyse business requirements related to payment processing, clearing, settlement, exception handling, cut-off management, charges, routing, repair queues, and operational workflows.
  • Work on payment schemes and rails including SWIFT, SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Instant, TARGET2/T2, and related clearing interfaces.
  • Apply ISO 20022 message standards including pain, pacs, and camt messages, and support message mapping, validation, and exception analysis.
  • Conduct requirement workshops, functional walkthroughs, solution discussions, and gap analysis sessions with client business and IT stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain functional documentation including BSDD, CSDD, FSD, process flows, configuration specifications, test scenarios, and traceability matrices in line with Temenos methodology.
  • Support functional configuration, parameter validation, interface alignment, and coordination with technical teams for build and integration activities.
  • Assist testing teams during system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect triage, regression testing, and production readiness activities.
  • Manage client interactions, clarify functional queries, support issue resolution, and ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned throughout delivery.
  • Deliver assigned work independently with high quality, proactive ownership, and minimal supervision.
  • Day-to-Day Activities
  • Participate in daily project stand-ups, status calls, defect triage meetings, and client working sessions.
  • Review payment-related business requirements and assess their impact on TPH configuration, interfaces, workflows, and downstream systems.
  • Analyse ISO 20022 payment messages, validate field-level mappings, and investigate message validation or processing exceptions.
  • Work with client SMEs to clarify requirements for payment initiation, clearing, settlement, routing, repair, returns, rejects, recalls, and investigations.
  • Prepare or update functional specifications, configuration notes, process flows, test scenarios, and issue analysis documents.
  • Coordinate with technical, integration, migration, and testing teams to ensure functional requirements are correctly understood and implemented.
  • Support configuration validation by reviewing rules, parameters, queues, schemes, cut-off times, calendars, charges, and routing logic.
  • Assist SIT and UAT teams by explaining expected system behaviour, reviewing test evidence, analysing defects, and supporting retesting.
  • Track open functional queries, risks, assumptions, and dependencies, and follow up with relevant stakeholders for timely closure.
  • Provide regular updates to project leads on progress, issues, blockers, and upcoming deliverables.

  • Strong functional knowledge of payments processing across domestic, instant, regional, and cross-border payment flows.
  • Hands-on experience in Temenos Payment Hub (TPH) implementation, configuration support, functional analysis, and testing lifecycle activities.
  • Good understanding of ISO 20022 message structures, usage guidelines, validation rules, and payment message flows.
  • Working knowledge of SWIFT, SEPA SCT, SEPA Instant, TARGET2/T2, payment clearing, settlement, exception handling, and investigations.
  • Ability to prepare clear functional documentation such as BSDD, CSDD, FSD, process flows, test cases, and requirement traceability documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate payment processing issues, defects, and message exceptions.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with confidence in client-facing discussions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver quality outputs within agreed timelines
