A growing Managed Service Provider is seeking an experienced 3rd Line IP Network Engineer to join its technical operations team in London. As a 3rd Line IP Network Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support and serve as the highest point of escalation for complex network-related incidents across customer environments. You will work closely with internal teams, customers, vendors, and third-party providers to troubleshoot and resolve issues involving SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, wireless networks, firewalls, and managed network services. The successful candidate will support network upgrades, infrastructure changes, performance optimization, and operational improvements across a range of technologies including Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Meraki solutions. This role combines hands‑on troubleshooting, customer engagement, and technical leadership within a fast‑paced MSP environment. Occasional out-of-hours support may be required to support critical infrastructure activities and maintenance windows.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line technical support and escalation management for enterprise network environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and security-related issues.
- Support and maintain customer network infrastructure across multi-vendor environments.
- Act as the primary escalation point for service desk and NOC teams.
- Diagnose routing, switching, firewall, and connectivity issues across diverse network architectures.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, carriers, and third‑party service providers to resolve incidents.
- Implement network changes, upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Support change management processes and ensure service continuity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and service quality enhancements.
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings and service reviews.
- Support out‑of‑hours maintenance and emergency activities when required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a Service Desk, NOC, Network Operations, or Technical Support environment.
- Experience working within ISP, MSP, or SME network environments.
- Strong hands‑on networking background with advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent understanding of TCP/IP networking principles and enterprise network architectures.
- Strong experience with routing and switching technologies.
- Hands‑on experience supporting SD‑WAN environments.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise firewall platforms.
- Strong knowledge of wireless networking technologies and deployments.
- Experience supporting Cisco networking solutions.
- Experience with Juniper networking platforms.
- Experience managing Fortinet security and networking solutions.
- Experience supporting Cisco Meraki networking and wireless environments.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and fault‑finding skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a customer‑focused support environment.

- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
