Our client is an established UK-based engineering manufacturer, specialising in the design and build of specialist vehicles and equipment.
The role
You’ll join a growing engineering team focused on the design and development of complex vehicle-based systems and associated equipment. This is a hands-on role covering the full design lifecycle, from concept through to production support, with direct involvement in manufacturing and build environments.
Key responsibilities
- 3D CAD design and production of detailed engineering drawings
- Concept design and development of components, fabrications, machined parts, and general assemblies
- Creation and maintenance of engineering documentation and project files
- Updating drawings and designs in line with continuous improvement activities
- Providing engineering support to production, resolving build and design issues
Requirements
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, kinematics or other complex mechanical systems
- Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor or similar)
- Experience designing mechanisms involving linkages, pivots, and actuators
- Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and weld design
- Ability to carry out manual calculations (stress, strain, force analysis)
- Experience with FEA
- Practical experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Understanding of engineering change processes and ISO 9001
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a design engineering role
Desirable
- Experience with vehicle or mobile equipment design
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Familiarity with vehicle regulations, CE marking, and machinery directives
- Experience using AutoCAD
