About the Company:

Our client is part of a long-established engineering group, manufacturing commercial vehicles in the UK. They produce around 1,000 units a year which are used globally by local authorities and private sector alike.

Role Purpose:

The Test and Development Engineer will lead and support the preparation, execution, and reporting of vehicle and component testing to validate product designs. The role involves managing Design Validation Plan (DVP) activities and offering technical guidance across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans in line with regulatory and company standards.
  • Set up instrumentation, collect test data, and process results.
  • Produce clear, concise reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure test activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Improve and standardize test procedures and techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle testing and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, data logging (HBM QuantumX, Vector DAQ), and analysis tools (e.g., Matlab, NI DIAdem).
  • Experience with electric vehicles and CAN data interpretation (J1939).
  • Ability to design test rigs, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Membership in a professional engineering body is desirable.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Full UK driving license.
