Job Overview
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of components, systems, and processes throughout our supply chain.
Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers, you will focus on quality assurance, supplier performance, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet and exceed organizational quality standards.
You will contribute to new product introductions by supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), developing and maintaining inspection plans, and managing key supplier documentation such as PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process).
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess supplier capabilities to ensure the delivery of defect-free components at required volumes.
- Support new product introduction by coordinating and monitoring supplier APQP activities.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans for incoming components and subassemblies.
- Review, approve, and maintain records of supplier PPAPs and related quality documentation.
- Drive supplier performance improvements through collaborative initiatives and data-driven problem-solving.
- Investigate and resolve nonconforming part issues by requesting and reviewing
- 8D reports and verifying corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to implement and validate quality tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Lead supplier root cause analysis and ensure eective resolution of quality concerns.
- Serve as a key point of contact for quality matters within the supplier base, fostering strong relationships and engagement.
- Present quality performance data eectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, throughout the supply chain.
- Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or a recognized Quality Management qualification.
- Certified ISO 9001 auditor (lead assessor qualification preferred).
- Proven experience in supplier quality or quality engineering roles, preferably in automotive or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Global 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why).
- Experience with metrology, GD&T, and inspection equipment.
- Familiarity with NPI processes and managing supplier performance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
- Willingness to travel on short notice within the UK and internationally.
- Full, clean driving license.
