Mechanical Design Engineer in Rugby

Overview:

We\’re recruiting on behalf of a client for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Chassis Team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative concepts and design the next generation of market-leading products, supporting the team from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.
• Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.
• Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
• Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.

Person Profile / Requirements:

Qualifications:

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).

Experience & Skills:

• Proven industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.
• Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
• Positive, can-do attitude and attention to detail.
