Role Overview On behalf of our client, a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business, we are currently recruiting a Senior Paint Technician to join their experienced production team in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, reducing paint defects, and ensuring products are finished to the highest possible standard. Key Responsibilities Prepare, spray paint, and polish components to meet quality and customer standards. Apply primer, base, and topcoats to achieve high-quality finishes. Operate paint booths and semi-automated paint lines while maintaining production targets. Inspect completed work, identify defects, and support quality improvements. Assist with rework activities to minimise waste and maintain delivery schedules. Train and support painters and trainees by sharing best practices and technical knowledge. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to high housekeeping and safety standards. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures at all times. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience as a Paint Technician within Automotive, Aerospace or similar manufacturing sector. Strong knowledge of paint preparation, application, polishing, and finishing processes. Ability to apply primer, base coat, and topcoat finishes to a high cosmetic standard. Experience identifying and rectifying paint defects and carrying out quality inspections. Familiarity with pneumatic and manual hand tools within a production environment. Experience working with polymer, composite, or carbon fibre components would be advantageous. Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage workload effectively to meet production targets.
