Open to various levels of experience, salary negotiable D.O.E. 37.5 hrs/week, reports to Head of Design. Split between office-based design work and on-site commissioning/fault-finding. Occasional travel required. UK-based applications only.
We are working with a well-established Marine R&D/Manufacturing company in Hampshire who are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the team. We are looking for someone with demonstrable electrical design experience and strong fault-finding skills, ideally from a Marine background.
You will have:
- Degree or Master's in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
- Minimum 3 years in a similar role within the marine electronics industry
- Electrical circuit design - AC/DC
- Can create and interpret schematics, technical drawings, control panel and circuit diagrams
- In-depth knowledge of marine electrical standards
- Strong fault-finding - logical, methodical approach
- Experience with electric motors, switching circuits, and motor controllers
- EPLAN and AutoCAD for design/documentation
- Good understanding of control system principles
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to self-manage workload
- Willing to travel for on-site commissioning
Desired but not essential:
- Marine CANbus systems - NMEA2000 and ruggedised sensors
- Appreciation of PLC programming, particularly Siemens CodeSys 3.5 experience
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Understanding of marine product certification requirements SIL Levels and design risk assessments
- Practical marine experience (personal boating or professional)
