An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced CNC Machinist specialising in Turning operations. This full-time position involves programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines in a dynamic precision engineering environment. The successful candidate will work within a skilled team to support a variety of machining projects and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings and CNC programs to understand machine movements and feature creation.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC turning machines.
- Select and apply appropriate cutting tools and liaise with tooling suppliers.
- Conduct in-process inspections using hand tools and apply quality control measures.
- Identify and resolve machine issues and support process improvements.
- Assist in the development of machining processes, fixtures, and tooling.
- Meet production deadlines and scheduling commitments.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to 5S principles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimize quality and production efficiency.
Machine Controls:
Experience with Mazak (Mazatrol) and Fanuc controls preferred.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in CNC machining, particularly in turning.
- GCSEs or equivalent educational background.
- Proficiency in CNC programming.
- Practical problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work from both verbal and written instructions.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Mazak programming.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with 8D problem-solving methodology.
