An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced CNC Machinist specialising in Turning operations. This full-time position involves programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines in a dynamic precision engineering environment. The successful candidate will work within a skilled team to support a variety of machining projects and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings and CNC programs to understand machine movements and feature creation.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC turning machines.
  • Select and apply appropriate cutting tools and liaise with tooling suppliers.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using hand tools and apply quality control measures.
  • Identify and resolve machine issues and support process improvements.
  • Assist in the development of machining processes, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Meet production deadlines and scheduling commitments.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimize quality and production efficiency.

Machine Controls:

Experience with Mazak (Mazatrol) and Fanuc controls preferred.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in CNC machining, particularly in turning.
  • GCSEs or equivalent educational background.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work from both verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Mazak programming.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with 8D problem-solving methodology.
