This Oxfordshire based business is a fast growing technical consultancy and software house, supporting global customers in the scientific, chemical and life sciences industries. As part of their next stage of growth, they are looking for a Sales Support Manager to help deliver an end-to-end customer support strategy, as well as provide team leadership. The Sales Support & Operations Manager is a key middle-management role responsible for leading and optimising this company’s sales support infrastructure and pre-sales operations. The role ensures efficient, high-quality support to Business Development activities, enabling revenue growth, operational excellence, and a consistent client experience. Leading a team of six (Sales Support, BDRs, and Pre-Sales Solutions Consultants), the role acts as a critical link between Business Development, Marketing, Scientific/Regulatory teams, and Project Management, ensuring alignment across the commercial lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team of Sales Support, Business Development Representatives and Pre-Sales Solutions Consultants.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs, and development plans aligned to company strategy.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
- Provide coaching and support to enhance commercial awareness and technical understanding.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve sales support processes, tools, and workflows.
- Ensure efficient management of the sales pipeline, from lead qualification through to proposal submission.
- Oversee CRM data integrity, reporting, and performance tracking.
- Drive consistency and quality in proposals, quotations, and client communications.
- Support resource planning and prioritisation across pre-sales activities.
Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience in sales operations, commercial support, or similar role. Must have dealt with mid-large enterprise customers with complex needs and contracts.
- Experience managing or leading teams.
- Strong organisational and process improvement skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience working with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a technical, consultancy, or B2B environment.
