Pre-Sales Consultant – AI & Solutions Architecture
Location: UK-based, hybrid working, Manchester or London HQ (2-4x per month) Salary: £65,000 – £95,000 + bonus Employment: Permanent
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Pre-Sales Consultant to join an established, growing technology consultancy, helping organisations understand how modern technology — particularly AI, data and cloud — can solve complex business challenges.
This is a highly consultative role sitting at the intersection of technology, commercial strategy and customer engagement.
You’ll work closely with prospective and existing customers to understand their objectives, shape compelling technology solutions and demonstrate how those solutions can deliver measurable business value.
A significant focus of the role will be on AI-oriented architecture and solutions, helping customers understand where AI can create genuine value and how it can be incorporated into scalable, secure and commercially viable technology ecosystems.
You’ll work alongside sales, engineering, architecture and delivery teams to take opportunities from early-stage discovery through to compelling technical proposals and successful outcomes.
- What you’ll be doing
- Lead technical discovery sessions with customers and prospective customers, understanding their business challenges, technology landscape and strategic objectives.
- Design and articulate AI-led solutions and architectures, covering areas such as generative AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, AI agents and AI-enabled applications.
- Translate complex business requirements into practical, scalable and commercially compelling technology solutions.
- Develop solution architectures, technical proposals, statements of work and supporting pre-sales collateral.
- Lead customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations and technical discussions, including conversations with senior technology and business stakeholders.
- Explain complex AI and technology concepts in a clear, commercially relevant way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with engineering and delivery teams to validate that proposed solutions are technically feasible, scalable and deliverable.
- Support the sales team throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from initial qualification through to proposal, negotiation and handover.
- Identify opportunities to introduce AI and emerging technologies where they can create tangible business value.
- Stay current with developments across AI, cloud, data, software engineering and enterprise architecture, helping customers understand the practical implications of emerging technologies.
- Contribute to the development of reusable solution patterns, propositions and intellectual property.
- What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical understanding with excellent commercial and communication skills.
You’ll ideally have
- Proven experience (4 years+) in a pre-sales, solutions consulting, solutions architecture or technical consulting role.
- Experience working directly with customers to understand requirements and shape technology solutions.
- Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, cloud platforms and enterprise technology.
- Experience designing or advising on AI/ML, generative AI or AI-enabled solutions.
- The ability to understand complex customer problems and turn them into clear architectural and commercial propositions.
- Excellent presentation, workshop facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Confidence engaging with senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience contributing to or leading technical proposals and bids.
- A strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and how solutions move from concept through to production.
- The ability to balance technical ambition with considerations around cost, security, scalability, governance and delivery risk.
You don't necessarily need to be an AI specialist or hands-on developer.
What matters is that you can understand AI technologies, identify meaningful use cases and translate them into credible enterprise solutions.
The kind of person who will thrive here
You’ll be naturally curious about technology and enjoy exploring what’s possible, but you’ll also be commercially minded enough to ask whether a proposed solution actually solves the customer's problem.
You’ll be comfortable operating in ambiguity, asking the right questions and challenging assumptions.
You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with architects, engineers and sales professionals, while being equally comfortable taking ownership of customer conversations yourself.
Most importantly, you’ll be able to bridge the gap between business problems and technical solutions — turning complex ideas into something customers can understand, believe in and invest in.
- What’s on offer
- £65,000 – £95,000 salary, depending on experience
- Team sales performance bonus
- Fully remote working from anywhere in the UK
- Opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex customer challenges
- Significant exposure to AI, cloud, modern software architecture and emerging technologies
- A collaborative environment working alongside experienced engineering, architecture and delivery specialists
- The opportunity to have a genuine influence on how organisations adopt and benefit from AI
