We are currently working with a leading construction and infrastructure contractor who are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to join their team on a major HVDC project in Peterhead. This is a site-based role offering the opportunity to work on a high-profile project while playing a key role in driving excellent Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental (SWHE) performance.
Purpose of role
Reporting to the EHS Manager, you will support the delivery of EHS compliance across site operations, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and senior management to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the EHS Manager in developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures
- Monitor site EHS performance and proactively address any shortfalls
- Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and EHS audits
- Review subcontractor RAMS to ensure suitability and compliance
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Deliver EHS training, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills
- Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Promote sustainability, waste reduction, and environmental improvement initiatives
- Advise on PPE selection and safe working practices
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Relevant professional membership (IOSH, IIRSM or similar)
- Proven experience as an EHS / Health & Safety Advisor within construction or electrical projects
- Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Competent in Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- First Aid qualification
- Experience on large infrastructure or HVDC projects
