I'm partnering with a major organisation delivering large-scale construction and capital infrastructure projects, who are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Advisor with a proven track record of implementing change, raising standards, and influencing safety culture across complex environments.
This role will suit a confident, technically strong H&S professional with construction experience, who has worked across multiple organisations or project environments and is comfortable driving improvements at pace.
The Role
You'll play a critical role in shaping and improving Health & Safety performance across multiple construction sites. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams, you'll provide expert advice, lead inspections and investigations, and actively drive continuous improvement across capital delivery activities. This is a hands-on, influential position requiring someone who can challenge effectively, implement change, and embed higher standards across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and monitor performance against Health, Safety & Wellbeing objectives across construction and capital projects
- Provide expert H&S advice to project and site teams, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice
- Lead site inspections, audits, hazard management, and root cause investigations
- Actively drive improvements to safety standards and working practices across sites
- Coach and mentor project managers and supervisors to strengthen safety leadership capability
- Provide technical expertise across high-risk construction activities including CDM, temporary works, excavations, service avoidance, site set-up, and hazardous substances
- Lead incident investigations and produce clear, robust reports with corrective actions
- Support full compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations, attending design and progress meetings
- Work collaboratively with engineering, security, and wellbeing teams to align safety standards
About You
- Strong construction background with proven experience in Health & Safety roles across multiple sites or organisations
- Demonstrable experience implementing change and improving safety standards in complex environments
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent (essential)
- CertIOSH minimum (CMIOSH / CFIOSH highly desirable)
- Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations
- Confident, credible communicator with strong investigation and report-writing skills
- Able to influence, coach, and challenge stakeholders at all levels
- Engineering degree or previous engineering experience is a strong advantage
Essential Requirements
- This is a regional role and you will be making regular commutes across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (pool cars are available from central location)
- Willingness to travel regularly between sites
