A leading technology and engineering company specialising in defence systems is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join its growing software engineering team. This position plays a key role in building, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that support a range of mission-critical products and services. This role would suit someone with a solid technical foundation, a collaborative approach, and a keen eye for detail who is looking to develop their skills within a complex engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and test software to support core products and internal systems
- Produce and maintain software build and test specifications
- Work collaboratively across teams to improve the testability and quality of software
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, customers, and technical partners on software-related matters
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and practices
- Undertake additional project or testing tasks as required by management
Essential Skills and Experience
- Technical background with a strong understanding of the software engineering lifecycle, particularly test and integration
- At least 1 year of practical experience testing software for PCs running Windows
- Experience writing test plans, specifications, and reports
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages to assist with automated testing and builds
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office

- Experience in building software and software installers
- Previous work in a technical or engineering organisation
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas to support testing and deployment activities
