The Field Service Engineer plays a key technical and ambassadorial role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of advanced marine propulsion and power systems across naval, commercial marine, superyacht, and land-based sectors. The role involves hands-on service activities, fault finding, and diagnostics of electrical switchboards and power management systems, working both independently and within teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
- Commission, service, repair, and install propulsion and power systems, including IPMS/AMS and switchboards on vessels.
- Perform fault diagnosis using traditional and PC-based tools, root cause analysis, and technical reporting.
- Provide emergency on-call support as part of a rota.
- Share knowledge and support team development.
- Implement continuous improvement and adhere to company processes.
- Manage stock control of parts and equipment under care.
- Occasionally perform workshop duties and provide in-field technical guidance to others.
- Travel extensively within the UK and Republic of Ireland, with occasional overseas travel including training and deployment under CONDO arrangements.
- Maintain high standards of communication, professionalism, and discipline expected of a blue-chip employer.
Candidate Profile:
- Relevant electrical engineering qualification or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
- Strong technical competence in marine propulsion/power products, electrical switchboards, and diagnostics.
- Ability to use PC-based diagnostic tools and traditional methods.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively, including overseas assignments.
- Physically capable of demanding fieldwork.
- Proficient in MS Office and technical report writing.
- Full, clean driving licence and current passport essential.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Commitment to attaining and maintaining full MoD Security Clearance and CONDO training.
