We are working with a central government department that requires an experienced Environmental Assessment Manager to join their operational delivery team. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based environmental advice to inform Ministerial decisions on nationally significant energy infrastructure projects under the Planning Act. These projects may include both onshore and offshore developments, with a particular focus on offshore wind and solar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical environmental advice to support planning decisions on major energy projects.
  • Review, interpret and respond to Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Assess complex environmental data and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Contribute expertise on issues relating to offshore wind, solar and wider nationally significant infrastructure projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in writing, reviewing or responding to HRAs and EIAs.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex environmental information and provide clear recommendations.

Desirable

  • Background or interest in technical environmental specialisms such as: landscape & visual assessment, land quality, water, noise, air quality, or human health.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.

This is an office-based or home-working contract with flexibility to be located in London, Salford, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, Darlington or Edinburgh. Standard working week of 37 hours.
