This is an opportunity to take a true technical ownership role in the design and development of high-reliability electronic systems used in aerospace and defence applications. You will work on advanced hybrid microelectronics and RF circuit designs, contributing directly to systems where performance, reliability, and precision are critical. The role combines hands-on circuit design with technical leadership, giving you influence across both new product development and legacy system sustainment. If you enjoy solving complex engineering problems, working at the forefront of electronic design, and seeing your work deployed in demanding environments, this is a role where your expertise will have real impact.

What you will be doing:

  • Taking technical ownership of RF circuit and subsystem design from concept through to validation
  • Designing and developing hybrid microelectronic circuits including chip-and-wire and chip-and-bond wire assemblies
  • Leading schematic capture, circuit simulation, analysis, and verification activities
  • Supporting both new product development and legacy product sustainment
  • Improving existing designs to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are robust and production-ready
  • Selecting and evaluating components for high-reliability and harsh environment applications
  • Supporting obsolescence management and redesign activities where required
  • Contributing to design reviews and technical sign-off processes
  • Investigating technical issues and leading root cause analysis where needed
  • Working collaboratively with suppliers and procurement on component and technical challenges
  • Ensuring compliance with aerospace and defence standards and internal engineering processes
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers within the team

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is confident operating as a senior technical engineer and who enjoys working across the full design lifecycle. You will likely bring:

  • Degree (BEng or MEng) in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronics
  • Strong analogue and/or mixed-signal circuit design experience
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid microelectronics (chip-and-wire / chip-and-bond wire, die attach, wire bonding)
  • Experience working on both new designs and legacy/sustaining engineering
  • Strong understanding of electronic components and lifecycle considerations

Skills and experience that will help you succeed:

  • Technical strength in RF and analogue circuit design experience
  • Circuit simulation, analysis, and validation
  • Design for manufacturability and robust production design
  • Component selection for high-reliability environments
  • Structured problem solving and failure analysis

Approach to work:

  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical engineering approach
  • Ability to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Awareness of lifecycle and obsolescence challenges in design

Collaboration and leadership:

  • Comfortable working across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Natural mentor to junior engineers with a collaborative mindset
  • Takes ownership of technical decisions and outcomes
