We are currently seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our client on a 12-month contract based in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting‑edge automation projects in a hands‑on, fully on‑site role.
The Role
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of advanced automation solutions. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning, ensuring high‑quality and innovative engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to a high standard
- Produce technical documentation including manuals, test procedures, and system specifications
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams, providing technical expertise and support
- Contribute to the development of new products and system improvements
- Follow and support project timelines set by the Systems Engineering Manager
- Assist with troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities
Requirements
- Strong experience with PLC programming (IEC 61131-3 languages preferred)
- Proven expertise in SCADA systems and industrial automation
- Solid understanding of control systems and electrical integration
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings
- Experience with CAD tools such as Visio or E-Plan Electric P8
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CANbus, Profibus)
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
