Are you an FPGA Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges rather than working on the same product year after year? We're supporting an established engineering consultancy looking to expand its FPGA capability as demand continues to grow. This is an opportunity to join a highly technical team working on cutting-edge projects across radar, communications and advanced sensing technologies.

If you're motivated by technical variety, enjoy collaborating with experts across multiple engineering disciplines and want to work on projects from concept through to delivery, this role offers exactly that.

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for designing and implementing FPGA solutions across a diverse portfolio of programmes, working closely with hardware, software, systems and RF engineers to develop innovative technologies for complex real-world applications. Rather than being tied to a single product, you'll have the opportunity to work on a range of technically challenging projects, helping shape solutions from initial concept through architecture, implementation, verification and customer delivery. This is a role where problem-solving, technical ownership and collaboration are valued above simply following specifications.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing FPGA solutions using AMD (Xilinx) devices and the Vivado toolchain
  • Developing high-quality VHDL designs for complex embedded systems
  • Applying Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques within radar, communications and sensing applications
  • Performing simulation, verification and hardware integration
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the full development lifecycle
  • Contributing to technical design reviews, architecture discussions and project planning
  • Supporting customer discussions and helping translate technical requirements into practical engineering solutions
  • Identifying technical risks and driving robust engineering outcomes
  • Mentoring junior engineers where appropriate
What We're Looking For

You'll have experience in FPGA development and enjoy tackling technically demanding engineering challenges. You'll ideally bring experience with:

  • FPGA development using AMD (Xilinx) devices
  • Strong VHDL knowledge
  • Vivado design environment
  • FPGA verification and simulation
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
  • Hardware and software integration

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • OpenCPI
  • STICS
  • SOSA
  • Zynq SoC devices
  • Linux
  • RF systems
  • Continuous Integration (CI)

Equally important is your approach to engineering. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys solving complex problems and is keen to broaden their technical expertise across multiple disciplines.

What's On Offer
  • Salary between £65,000 and £90,000
  • Annual bonus
  • Hybrid working
  • Exposure to a wide variety of technically challenging projects
  • Opportunity to work alongside highly experienced engineers across hardware, software, systems and RF
  • Excellent career development within a growing engineering consultancy
  • A collaborative environment where you'll be encouraged to take ownership and develop your technical expertise
Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance. UK citizenship is essential.

If you're looking for an opportunity where you'll solve challenging engineering problems, work on genuinely innovative technology and continue developing your technical skills across a broad range of projects, we'd be keen to hear from you.
