Overview
This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in-house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment. Sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 available depending upon experience/skill level.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicles to proper operating condition.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts including major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed.
- Troubleshoot with diagnostic software ā charging systems, brakes, suspensions, A/C system.
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations.
- Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job.
- Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- This position will primarily work remotely in a service truck making repairs and performing services at our customers' locations. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, account for their time and inventory, and perform services safely within the time allotted.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-6 years of practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes.
- Able to perform preventative maintenance services such as oil & transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors, etc.
- Proficient in the repair and diagnosis of diesel engines, interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes.
- Proficient in the use of all tools of trade.
- Basic computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software.
- Ability to provide a detailed written analysis and computer input of the three Cās (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job (frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner.
- Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $25.79 to $38.69.
