The Role
As a Night Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining production machinery, responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment uptime and production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Respond quickly to production breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Support production teams with equipment and process issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift reports.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture across the site.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with engineering projects and equipment upgrades.
- Train and support production operators on equipment best practice.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Quality and Health & Safety standards.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering discipline.
- Previous experience as a Shift Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer within manufacturing (food manufacturing preferred).
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations within manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and team-working skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
