Role Purpose

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day field and operational activities within the assigned business unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of testing services.
  • Act as the first point of contact for field teams, supporting performance, training, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Supervision
    • Allocate tasks and manage daily workflow for field testing teams to meet client schedules and deadlines.
    • Monitor progress and resolve operational issues promptly, escalating where necessary.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure all field activities comply with CTS procedures, ISO 17025 standards, and client requirements.
    • Support internal audits and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Health, Safety & Environment
    • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with HSE requirements during field operations.
    • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly and support investigations.
  • People Leadership
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to field technicians and operatives.
    • Assist with training and competency assessments to maintain high standards.
  • Equipment & Resources
    • Ensure field equipment is calibrated, maintained, and available for scheduled work.
    • Report any equipment faults or resource shortages to the Business Unit Lead.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as the on-site point of contact for clients during field operations.
    • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Reporting & Communication
    • Provide daily and weekly updates on operational performance to the Business Unit Lead.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and escalate issues when necessary.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in field operations within construction, testing, or technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes and quality principles.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 and UKAS accreditation requirements.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (to support safety compliance).
  • Continuous improvement or Lean Six Sigma awareness.
