About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a highly organised and conscientious Finance Assistant to support the effective delivery of financial operations within one of our primary academies. Reporting to the School Business Manager and working closely with the Trust’s central finance function, the postholder will contribute to robust financial administration, regulatory compliance and value for money across the school. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who thrives in a structured environment and is committed to accuracy, integrity and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and process purchase orders, invoices, credit notes and payments in accordance with Trust financial regulations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end procedures.
- Assist with budget monitoring, reconciliations and reporting requirements.
- Administer staff expense claims and provide payroll input as required.
- Liaise with suppliers, budget holders and the central finance team to resolve queries.
- Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the finance function.
- Support audit processes and ensure documentation is maintained to required standards.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working in a finance, accounts or strong administrative environment.
- Excellent numeracy skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and financial systems.
- Professional, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with staff and stakeholders.
Desirable
- Previous experience within an education or public sector setting.
- Knowledge of academy or local authority financial procedures.
