An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher & RE Lead to join a vibrant and inclusive Primary School in Tower Hamlets. This is a fixed-term position for one year, starting January 2026, ideal for an experienced teacher who is enthusiastic about leading Religious Education alongside their classroom teaching responsibilities.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated teacher to take on this dual role, combining classroom teaching in Year 1 with leadership of Religious Education across the school. Some of our Year 1 pupils are working at EYFS level and have additional needs, meaning elements of EYFS practice will be an important part of your teaching approach. You will work within a collaborative team that values creativity, inclusion, and high expectations for all pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging lessons for Year 1 pupils
  • Incorporating EYFS strategies where appropriate to support pupils working below age-related expectations
  • Leading and developing the Religious Education curriculum across the school
  • Supporting and challenging pupils with additional needs to ensure progress for all
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
  • Contributing to the school’s ethos, values, and ongoing development
