Ready to Make a Splash in Formby? At Victorian Plumbing, we’ve spent years becoming the UK’s BEST online bathroom retailer, but our Formby retail store is where the magic happens in person! We don't just sell taps and tiles; we help our customers turn their "bathroom blues" into the retreats of their dreams. We are looking for a Store Manager who is ready to take the plunge and lead our fantastic Formby team. If you’re a natural leader with a "can-do" attitude and a passion for top-tier customer experience, you’ll fit right in. We aren't about high-pressure sales tactics; we’re about flowing with the customer’s needs and ensuring their journey is nothing short of sparkling.

What’s the Role?

  • Customer Experience Excellence: Ensuring every visitor receives a premium, welcoming experience from the first "hello" to the final delivery. Note: If you have a strong background in high-level Customer Service, you'll have a massive advantage here—we can teach you the technical product specifications, but passion for the customer experience can't be scripted!
  • Leading the Stream: Managing, motivating, and developing a small, friendly team to ensure they’re reaching their targets and providing expert, friendly advice.
  • Driving Consultative Growth: Coaching your team to move beyond simple "order taking" and into high-value, design-led consultations.
  • Local Brand Awareness: Using your commercial knowledge to identify local trade opportunities and elevate the store's profile within the community.
  • The Perfect Finish: Ensuring the showroom looks immaculate—from our luxury suites to our designer radiators—so customers can truly envision their dream space.
  • Smooth Operations: Overseeing our ‘Collect From Store’ service, managing staff rotas, coordinating with our dispatch warehouse, and making sure daily operations run seamlessly.

Who You Are

  • A Proven Leader: You’ve steered the ship before in a retail or premium customer service environment, managing performance, rotas, and team dynamics.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: You pride yourself on being the professional, helpful face of the brand and believe that service always comes first.
  • A Consultation Approach: While we aren't "hard-sell," you understand how to drive a team toward commercial targets by highlighting value and building genuine customer relationships.
  • Attention to Detail: You can spot a smudge on a chrome tap from across the room and ensure every operational transaction is handled quickly and effectively.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using CRM systems, standard retail software, and digital tools.
  • Experience: A background in big-ticket retail (Kitchens, Bathrooms, Furniture, or Luxury Goods) or premium hospitality/customer management is highly desirable.

Why Join Victorian Plumbing?

  • True Work-Life Balance: Sundays are for relaxing! We are closed every Sunday.
  • Earning Potential: A competitive base salary plus a bonus structure that actually rewards your showroom’s performance.
  • Autonomy: We want you to run the store like it’s your own business, backed by the marketing powerhouse of the UK’s #1 online bathroom retailer.
  • A Supportive Environment: Your hard work won't go down the drain. You’ll be part of a team that prides itself on an "uncomplicated" shopping experience, helping customers create bathrooms they can truly reflect in.

Don’t let this opportunity leak away! If you’re ready to pour your energy into a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

We should have examples on hand of how we've handled difficult situations or gone above and beyond to meet a customer's needs. These anecdotes will bring your application to life!

Familiarity with Point of Sale Systems

Many retail roles require us to work with Point of Sale (POS) systems, so it's a good idea to brush up on any relevant software you’ve used before. We should research popular items or trends in the industry before the interview, so we can speak confidently about them.

Be Ready for Role-Playing Scenarios

Many retail interviews include role-playing scenarios where we might have to deal with a difficult customer or upsell a product. Practising these scenarios with a friend or family member can help us feel more comfortable. The key here is to showcase our problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure!
