Who are we looking for?

We are looking for proactive, self-motivated people who are interested in becoming our new workflow coordinator for our trims and wash area. This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your career at Barrie Knitwear and make a real impact by working closely with production teams, team leaders, and key stakeholders across the business. We are ideally looking for people with work allocation experience within a textile manufacturing environment. You will make a valuable contribution to the operation of the manufacturing site by ensuring that your section can work efficiently in line with the production plan. Coordinating effectively to process the right products on time, to the right quality and utilising the key skills within your section.

What will you be doing?

  • Communication with team members effectively to advise of priorities, targets, and blocks.
  • Distribute work amongst designated areas ensuring prioritisation is maintained and work/relevant instructions are distributed via other means (e.g. POLCA).
  • Ensure repairs are expedited in the quickest way possible and scanned to appropriate locations.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure all work is collected and all work booked in before end of shift and stored in the correct locations.
  • Ensure operators/materials are allocated accordingly for maximum utilisation of resources.
  • Provide cones/threads and associated spec sheets to designated operatives.
  • Separate items from internal requirements and those for subcontractors.
  • Liaise with personnel regarding booking out/in from subcontractors.
  • Ensure all operators have valid spec sheets and/or instructions (electronically or print off) gradation requirements as required.
  • Work as part of the team to provide assistance or cover.
  • Deal with ad hoc requests from the team (e.g. Mechanic calls).
  • Liaising with the Production Manager to effectively produce quality products as detailed in the production plan and related to specific KPIs such as attainment to plan, waste, overhead recovery.
  • Management of POLCA within all work areas in order to maintain workflow.
  • The role will work with and support Team Leaders/Production manager, to produce the required products in line with the daily/weekly plan.
  • Effectively managing and maintaining high standards of monthly housekeeping inspections.
  • Support Production Manager with the implementation of projects.
  • Cross-functional team working, championing manufacturing excellence, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Optimising the efficiency of each section through regular discussion, problem solving and contact with other Workflow Coordinators, Work distributors, Quality and Planning.
  • Liaising with the Quality Department ensuring that the production area meets all Barrie Knitwear quality standards.
  • Work together on resolving any quality issues related to process/operative.
  • Managing health and safety within the production area, including the regular review of risk assessments/completion of outstanding actions.
  • Supporting the Emergency Evacuation of the site if required.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Proactive in identifying improvements within work area to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, able to work on own initiative and under pressure.
  • Demonstrating behaviours in line with the Company Values.
  • IOSH Accreditation (Desirable).
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Proven communication and motivational skills.
