We are seeking a dedicated, confident, and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary education. As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across the curriculum, while supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will play a crucial role in preparing pupils for SATs and ensuring they leave the school ready for the next stage of their education.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum
- Prepare pupils for SATs using engaging and effective teaching strategies
- Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress accurately
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations
- Create a structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers
- Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school initiatives
- Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Have recent experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
- Be confident in SATs preparation and assessment
- Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Be enthusiastic, reflective, and child-centred in approach
- Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
