About the role
As Head of Department, Humanities, you'll lead a team of teachers delivering A-level Humanities to students around the world. You'll set the academic standard, support and develop teachers, oversee curriculum and assessment, and ensure every student gets a consistently excellent experience, whether they're learning in group classes, small groups, or one-to-one. You'll report to the Principal and teach 12 of 22 periods, with 10 release periods for leadership work.
What you'll do:
- Lead the Humanities department: meetings, learning walks, lesson observations, and professional development
- Coach and support teachers across all learning modes, including new Da Vinci (1:1) teachers
- Own curriculum quality and alignment with A-level specifications
- Oversee internal and external examinations, moderation, and post-exam analysis
- Monitor student progress and lead interventions where needed
- Champion strong digital pedagogy across the team
- Teach Humanities classes yourself, modelling great practice

- Qualified Humanities teacher with strong A-level experience
- Proven leadership or middle-leadership experience in an academic setting
- Confident with digital learning platforms and online teaching
- Skilled coach who can develop teachers and lift outcomes
- Data-literate, organised, and able to balance leadership with teaching
