Role Purpose

You will assist in delivering a balanced curriculum of child-initiated play and teacher-led activities while providing targeted support to individual pupils and small groups. A large part of this role involves supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional or behavioural needs. You will help children regulate emotions, develop social skills, and access learning in a calm, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support EYFS learning through play-based and structured activities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help
  • Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths
  • Support children with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and self-regulation
  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and daily activities
  • Support outdoor learning, physical development, and creative play
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and achievements
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Support personal care needs as required
  • Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
