Team Point is a UK-developed field service management platform used by service businesses across the country to manage quotations, scheduling, projects, compliance, mobile working, invoicing and business reporting.
For more than 14 years, we have developed and supported our own software, continually improving the platform in partnership with our customers.
We are a small, experienced UK team, which means decisions are made quickly, customer feedback directly influences the product and everyone has the opportunity to make a visible contribution.
We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to join Team Point in a varied role combining software development with customer support, training and onboarding.
This is not a coding-only position.
Alongside designing, developing and improving features using Laravel, Vue. js and My SQL, you will work directly with customers to understand how their businesses operate, help them implement Team Point, deliver training and provide ongoing product support.
You will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from discussing a business requirement and identifying a practical solution through to developing, testing and supporting the finished feature.
Your responsibilities will include
- developing new features using PHP, Laravel, Vue. js and My SQL;
- maintaining and improving existing functionality;
- investigating and resolving technical and product-support queries;
- working directly with customers to understand operational requirements;
- supporting customer onboarding and implementation projects;
- delivering online and in-person product training;
- contributing ideas that improve both the software and the customer experience;
- participating in testing, code reviews and technical discussions;
- helping shape the future direction of the Team Point platform.
The role is predominantly home based.
The successful candidate will need to attend an initial week of training in Shrewsbury and be able to travel to Shrewsbury occasionally afterwards to work with the team.
Occasional travel to customer sites, meetings and company events will also be required.
We are looking for someone who enjoys both building good software and working with people.
You should have commercial experience with
- PHP;
- Laravel;
- Vue. js;
- My SQL;
- Java Script;
- Git.
Experience with APIs, automated testing, Saa S platforms, mobile applications or business workflow software would be useful, but is not essential.
You will also need
- communicate clearly and confidently with customers;
- enjoy understanding how different businesses operate;
- explain technical subjects in a practical and accessible way;
- work independently while contributing to a small collaborative team;
- approach problems pragmatically;
- be based in the UK and willing to travel when required.
A degree is not essential. Relevant commercial experience, technical ability and the right approach to customers and teamwork are more important to us.
Our full-time team works four days per week while receiving full-time pay.
These are not compressed hours.
It is a genuine four-day working week because we believe people produce their best work when they have time to recharge.
You will have the flexibility to work mainly from home while remaining part of a close and collaborative team.
You will see how the software is used in real businesses and have the opportunity to help customers improve the way they work.
Because we are a small team developing our own platform, your ideas and technical contribution will have a visible impact.
The role combines development, support, training and onboarding, giving you a broader understanding of the product and the customers who rely on it.
