Full-Time On-site

We are seeking a Studio Engineer / Technical Production Specialist to take ownership of the technical operation, maintenance and readiness within a fast‑paced London studio, as well as providing remote support for satellite studios in DC, NY and Singapore.

This role combines hands‑on vision mixing support with proactive technical maintenance, troubleshooting and studio set up. The successful candidate will act as the technical backbone of studio production, working alongside the Studio Manager to ensure all studios are fully operational and production-ready at all times.

The ideal candidate will have strong engineering and studio‑production experience, as well as hands‑on expertise in vMix and broadcast workflows, and the ability to work calmly under pressure in fast‑paced production environments. They will be equally comfortable firefighting urgent technical issues and implementing longer‑term improvements to studio systems and workflows.

Working closely with production, editorial and technical teams, the studio engineer will play a critical role in supporting as‑live studio recordings and remote virtual productions while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence and operational reliability

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Vision Mixing & Production Support
  • Provide technical support and vision mixing for studio shows, ensuring seamless live and recorded output
  • Ensure all video, audio, graphics and VT sources are correctly routed, synced and ready for recording
  • Support complex as‑live recorded shows, troubleshooting issues in real time with minimal disruption. If a cable fails or a remote guest loses their internet connection mid‑recording, the Studio Engineer must have a "Plan B" ready. They often act as the bridge between the creative crew and the deep‑level broadcast engineers.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and ensure studio workflows are understood across relevant teams.
  • Studio Operations & Technical Readiness
  • Along with the Studio Manager, take ownership of the day‑to‑day technical readiness for all studios, ensuring the London, and satellite studios are always ready for production
  • Set up and configure studio equipment for recordings, including cameras and audio. Ensuring all studio cameras are correctly configured and that framing, positioning and shot quality meet production standards
  • Operate and control remote cameras in satellite studios where required, ensuring the video signal is perfect. If a screen goes black, a remote guest's video stutters, or a camera’s colour looks "off," it is the Studio Engineer’s job to fix it instantly.
  • Camera Prep: Ensuring all studio cameras are synced (Genlocked), correctly routed to the vision mixer
  • Monitor Calibration: Ensuring that every screen in the gallery is showing colour‑accurate pictures
  • Managing Remote Presenters (The "Incoming" Feeds)
  • Contribution Links: Setting up the hardware/software (like SRT, LiveU, Streamyard, Riverside or Zoom/Teams broadcast bridges) to bring remote video into the studio
  • Latency & Sync: Ensuring the remote presenter's video and audio are perfectly synchronized with the studio's live mix
  • Return Feeds: Setting up the "return" video so the remote presenter can see the studio and the other presenters in real‑time
  • Managing the "Live‑Mix" Environment. Even though the shows are being recorded, they are operated as if they are live
  • There will also be ad‑hoc requirements to change what gets routed where in terms of the displays in the studio and control room
  • Perform ongoing system checks, updates, calibration, and preventative maintenance across all studio infrastructure, working closely with the IT department
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reliability, and efficiency across studio operations

Skills & Qualifications

  • vMix Proficiency: Advanced, hands‑on expertise with vMix, including configuration, complex workflows, and production management
  • Broadcast Engineering: Thorough understanding of broadcast signal flow, system architecture, and industry‑standard protocols (e.g., SRT, NDI, Dante)
  • Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical, audio, and video issues in real‑time under high‑pressure, live environments
  • Signal Quality Control: Skilled in monitoring and adjusting video signals using scopes (waveforms, vectorscopes) to ensure consistent broadcast‑grade standards
  • Remote Production: Experience setting up and managing remote contributor feeds (e.g., SRT, LiveU, Streamyard, Riverside or Zoom/Teams) with a focus on sync and latency management
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to interpret and work from complex infrastructure diagrams and installation schematics
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a technical liaison between creative and engineering teams

Education & Experience

  • Education & Experience
  • Engineering and studio background required
  • Experience with vMix essential
  • Must understand the schematic of the install, signal‑flow diagrams and studio infrastructure documentation
  • Able to troubleshoot issues on the fly as they arise
