Salary: £19.51 per hour while training, rising to £29.27 per hour once moved to night shift.
Working Hours: Initial training will be on a day shift for about one month, followed by a transition to the night shift. Training hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Internal/External grinding using MDI (Manual Data Input) CNC machinery, surface grinding and thread grinding.
- Operator Control of Quality (OCQ) – stamping to confirm quality of assemblies to company and customer standards.
- Ensure on‑time delivery by completing work to the required standard.
- Interpret engineering drawings, follow process layout and documentation procedures.
- Work effectively in a lean environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Engineering apprenticeship (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge of grinding tolerances and finishes to aerospace standards (e.g., 0.0002" internal/external diameter, 2‑4 micro‑inch surface finishes, 0.0002" concentrate).
- Honing experience.
- Proficiency with hand‑measuring equipment such as digital micrometers, comparators, air‑plug gauges and surface‑finish measuring equipment.
- High standard of health.
