We are working with a specialist in smoke ventilation and life safety systems, delivering critical projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced Smoke Ventilation & Life Safety Engineers with backgrounds in service, maintenance, installation, commissioning, and fault finding of AOV and smoke control systems.
The Role
You will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, commissioning, and testing of smoke ventilation and life safety systems, ensuring compliance, safety, and performance across a range of sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintenance, and fault finding on:
- AOV systems
- Smoke extraction and pressurisation systems
- Fire dampers, fire curtains, and ventilation systems
- Installation, wiring, and commissioning of smoke ventilation systems
- Functional testing and cause & effect testing of smoke control systems
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
- Diagnostics and fault-finding on control panels and associated electrical systems
- Extract rate testing and commissioning (where applicable)
- Completion of service reports, commissioning documentation, and compliance records
- Ensuring systems meet current fire and smoke control regulations
- Working safely at height when required
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience working with smoke ventilation and AOV systems
- Experience in servicing, installation, commissioning, or maintenance of smoke control systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and control panels
- Ability to diagnose faults and work independently in a field-based environment
- Full UK Driving Licence
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installations (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- ECS / JIB / CSCS Card
Desirable
- Experience with systems including:
- SE Controls
- Colt
- Teal
- SCS
- FDS
- Velux
- Geze
- Knowledge of:
- Approved Document B
- BS EN 12101
- BS 9991
- BS 9999
- BS 7346-8
- PASMA, IPAF, or Rooftop Safety certification
- SSSTS (for senior roles)
- Fire alarm or emergency lighting experience
- Understanding of CFD reports and smoke control strategies
