A leading engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Buyer who brings a strategic approach to support new product introduction and drive effective sourcing strategies from concept through to production. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, procurement, and operations, ensuring cost-effective and reliable supply solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement activities across NPI and industrialisation projects
  • Integrate sourcing strategies with engineering and production requirements
  • Manage RFQs, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations
  • Ensure availability of materials and components to meet project timelines
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations on DFM/DFA and technical alignment
  • Support supplier audits, qualification, and performance reviews
  • Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
  • Maintain procurement data, contracts, and project documentation
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are met
  • Support smooth transition from project phase into serial production

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a strategic or project-based buying role within engineering/manufacturing.

Required Skills:

  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chains
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis
  • Effective stakeholder and supplier management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional qualification (e.g. CIPS) desirable
  • Exposure to NPI or industrialisation processes beneficial
  • Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement methods advantageous
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers as required

Pay range and compensation package: £50k
