Teamforce Labour are currently seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer with a strong civil engineering background to join a major infrastructure project based at Old Oak Common, Acton. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a long-term, high-profile project, working alongside an established delivery team on complex civil engineering works.
The Role
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all works are accurately set out in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and programme requirements. You will work closely with site management, subcontractors, and the wider engineering team to support the successful delivery of civil engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out setting out for civil engineering works including earthworks, drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete structures, and associated infrastructure.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Establish and maintain site control points and survey data.
- Ensure all setting out activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain accurate site records.
- Prepare and review as-built surveys and drawings.
- Monitor and report progress of works to the Site Manager and Project Engineer.
- Liaise with subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered to programme.
- Identify and resolve engineering and technical issues on site.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, health & safety requirements, and industry standards.
- Support the production of method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer on civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of surveying equipment including Total Stations and GPS systems.
- Experience in infrastructure, drainage, concrete, earthworks, utilities, or rail-related civil engineering works.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Competent in producing and reviewing survey data and as-built records.
- CSCS Card as a minimum.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
