Overview

This is a role for a strategic thinker who loves to do. You will join one of our portfolio teams and drive the brand marketing for several games within the portfolio; building the strategic brand foundations each title needs to succeed and developing the go-to-market campaigns that drive awareness, demand and ultimately commercial performance.

You will work at the intersection of strategy and execution - setting brand direction, developing campaign plans, and collaborating with subject matter experts across Team17's cross functional marketing team to bring everything to life. Your portfolio team consists of Community Management and Production who are your day-to-day partners, ensuring we are building the best games for the right players and that our marketing is as strong as the products it supports.

This role requires someone who can hold their own in multiple rooms at once. You will liaise with teams across Team17 as well as with the external developers we publish, which means your ability to build relationships, communicate clearly, influence stakeholders and balance competing priorities will be every bit as important as your marketing expertise.

We are looking for candidates with a genuine brand marketing background and strong understanding of the craft - marketers who understand and can demonstrate the value a strong brand brings to video game development and marketing.

What You Will Do

  • Brand Strategy & Foundations
    • Develop deep knowledge of your target player audiences through research and insights, using this to champion the player throughout development and marketing.
    • Build and manage the brand strategy for each of your products, including brand positioning, the brand framework, tone of voice and brand visual identity, providing the strategic foundation for all downstream marketing activity.
    • Identify and articulate a compelling product truth, USPs and product positioning, ensuring each title is set apart from competitors and clearly understood by both internal teams and players.
    • Use brand, player and market insights to help developers tune their game for the greatest impact.
    • Act as the internal champion for your brands, keeping the wider business and partners informed and excited about your products.
  • Go-to-Market Planning & Execution
    • Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for your products, covering the full arc from pre-launch awareness through to launch and live operations.
    • Build integrated campaign plans in close collaboration with subject matter experts in the cross functional marketing team, including social media, influencer, PR, community, lifecycle and paid media specialists ensuring a joined-up approach to every release.
    • Lead campaign kick-off meetings, briefing the wider marketing team on upcoming launches and aligning all stakeholders on objectives, messaging and timing.
    • Drive marketing asset briefing, creation and approval, working with internal creative teams and external agencies to ensure the highest quality output.
    • Manage marketing budgets for your titles - building plans, tracking spends and ensuring resources are deployed effectively to maximise impact and return.
    • Monitor and report on campaign performance against agreed KPIs, using data and insights to optimise activity in-flight and sharpen future strategies.
  • Stakeholder & Partner Management
    • Partner closely with Community Managers to ensure player communities are engaged, informed and properly represented in strategic decisions from the earliest stages.
    • Work alongside Producers and development teams to deeply understand each product's features, development milestones and unique qualities - becoming the marketing voice within those relationships.
    • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with external game developers, representing Team17's publishing values and ensuring developers feel like genuine partners in their game's success.
    • Liaise effectively with teams across the Team17 business - including sales, marketing, release management etc - ensuring marketing activity is aligned and supported across the organisation.
    • Manage upwards and sideways with confidence, communicating progress, surfacing risks early and influencing decisions through well-reasoned, data-supported arguments.
  • Insights & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead or commission market intelligence and player insight initiatives that inform brand, product and campaign decisions.
    • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis, monitoring market trends and rival titles to identify opportunities and threats.
    • Drive post-campaign retrospectives, capturing honest learnings and feeding them back into future planning to continuously raise the bar.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience & Background
    • An experienced brand marketing background - you understand brand strategy, can build brand frameworks from scratch and know how to translate brand thinking into effective execution.
    • Demonstrable experience developing and executing go-to-market campaigns across multiple marketing disciplines and channels, from early planning through to post-launch analysis.
    • Experience in the games industry, whether from a publisher, developer or specialist agency. A deep personal passion for games and genuine knowledge of the gaming landscape are non-negotiable.
    • A track record of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, delivering high-quality work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Skills & Capabilities
    • Strategic thinking with creative instincts - you can move between big-picture brand vision and the granular detail of campaign execution without losing quality at either end.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. You can distil complex ideas into clear, compelling messages and tailor your style for very different audiences, from developers to data teams to exec stakeholders.
    • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. You are comfortable navigating complex, multi-party relationships and can achieve alignment and buy-in without resorting to hierarchy.
    • Analytical mindset - comfortable with performance data, able to interpret results meaningfully and use insights to make smarter decisions.
    • A collaborative, team-first approach. You understand that great marketing is a team sport and you bring energy, ideas and reliability to every shared goal.
  • Bonus Points
    • Experience working directly with external development studios or managing publisher-developer relationships.
    • Familiarity with player research methodologies and insight tools.
    • Experience managing creative agency and production relationships.
