Your responsibilities as Payroll Specialist:

  • Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while producing and validating payroll reports in line with internal procedures
  • Create and maintain accurate employee payroll records by analysing, processing and validating incoming data from various workflow streams, ensuring compliance with current legislation
  • Investigate discrepancies, complete reconciliations and analyse variances
  • Monitor service delivery against SLAs and escalate issues where necessary
  • Manage relationships with multiple outsourced payroll providers
  • Respond to employee queries and support month-end, year-end and payroll reporting requirements
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of HR and payroll systems
  • Assist with compensation and benefits administration as required

What we're looking for in a Payroll Specialist:

  • Proven experience supporting a payroll process from end to end
  • Strong understanding of tax laws, employment legislation and payroll regulations, including statutory payments and deductions
  • CIPP qualification, or working towards
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and PivotTable functions, and experience importing and exporting data in and out of payroll systems
  • Experience implementing or supporting HR/payroll systems would be desirable
