An international engineering company are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their UK operations. This is a senior leadership role based out of their Fife office, acting as the technical authority across the UK business, supporting a wide range of high-spec products including subsea, MOD, precision machined and welded components. This position would suit a driven and experienced Technical Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys combining hands-on engineering knowledge with strategic leadership.

As the Technical Manager you will:

  • Lead and manage the UK technical team in line with business objectives
  • Support sales and operations with technical expertise to meet client requirements
  • Drive R&D and continuous improvement across the business
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including ISO 3834
  • Manage and develop external test house and technical supply chain
  • Support tendering activity, including technical reviews and client engagement
  • Oversee technical input into bids, contracts, and customer negotiations
  • Lead technical investigations and support quality processes (RCCA)
  • Manage departmental budgets and performance
  • Deliver technical presentations to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Provide engineering and metallurgical support across all UK business units
  • Contribute to monthly management meetings and reporting.

We are looking for a Technical Manager with:

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgy or similar)
  • Strong background in oil & gas, pipelines, materials, or corrosion resistance
  • Proven experience in a Technical Manager or senior engineering role
  • Hands-on knowledge of welding, machining, and materials
  • Experience leading teams and managing technical functions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
  • Right to work in the UK and live within a commutable distance of Fife
  • IWE / EWE or MSc in Welding Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng / IEng)
  • Degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
