We are looking for a talented Apparel Designer to join our innovative team at Team Penske. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing high-quality team apparel that aligns with our brand identity and meets the functional needs of our team members. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the visual representation of our brand through thoughtful and strategic design. The right candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and will work closely with other Team Penske departments, including but not limited to management, marketing, branding, and licensing. This position offers a unique opportunity to oversee the development process from creating new designs, sourcing, overseeing production, and ensuring quality assurance.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development of team apparel, including track wear and uniforms from concept through production.
- Conduct research on industry trends and technologies to inform design decisions and innovate within the professional team apparel space.
- Create and maintain technical specifications and tech packs.
- Coordinate sample development, fittings and revisions.
- Assist in material and trim sourcing to meet brands and performance needs.
- Ensure finished products align with Team Penske brand standards and image.
Vendor & Product Coordination:
- Communicate regularly with domestic and overseas factories to track progress and timelines.
- Assist in sourcing fabrics and production partners as needed.
- Monitor production calendars and help ensure on-time delivery.
- Review samples and production runs for quality and consistency.
Cross Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing, branding and competition departments to gather requirements and feedback.
- Support presentations and development updates for internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of experience; preferably working in professional sports and/or entertainment.
- Highest level of integrity.
- Strong portfolio showcasing leading design projects from ideation to execution, particularly in uniform or apparel design.
- Expertise in textiles, materials, and garment construction, with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Creative thinker with a passion for design and with exceptional level of organization and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well with others in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and open to feedback, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and design software Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Available to travel for race weekends with some weekday travel as required.
