Team Penske is seeking an R&D Fabricator to support aerodynamic development through wind tunnel testing. This role is responsible for preparing vehicles and components to exact aero specifications, executing rapid modifications during testing, and ensuring smooth and efficient test operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on fabrication experience with metallic and composite materials, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, development-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicles and components for wind tunnel testing by building and finishing bodywork to aerodynamic specifications.
- Sand, paint, fit, and modify test components to ensure accuracy and repeatability during testing.
- Attend wind tunnel tests and perform quick, precise changes to components as directed by the aero group.
- Review wind tunnel test plans and proactively prepare tools, parts, and materials to minimize delays.
- Organize, load, and transport toolboxes, test components, and equipment required for wind tunnel sessions.
- Collaborate closely with aerodynamicists, engineers, and fabrication staff to support development objectives.
- Ensure all components meet NASCAR technical and quality standards prior to and during testing.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, configurations, and changes made during test sessions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with Team Penske standards.
Qualifications:
- Wind tunnel testing experience in a motorsports or high-performance automotive environment.
- Familiarity with NASCAR technical inspection processes and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with fabrication tools and techniques for both metallic and composite components.
- Experience using metrology equipment such as portable CMMs, scanners, and measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time constraints.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while remaining a strong team contributor.
- Effective communication skills and proficiency with computers and software including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and off-shift schedules as required.
