Penske Racing is looking for a talented IT Professional to join our team as a senior-level Network Engineer in Mooresville, NC (on-site position / this is not a remote or hybrid position) to help design, implement, maintain, and support our expanding network infrastructure. In this role, you will join and mentor a team dedicated to creating scalable, maintainable, secure, and highly available network architectures that align with our business objectives and service level agreements (SLAs). This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and is a non-management position.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy functional, reliable, but secure networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN).
- Set up and configure various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, QoS) with high availability.
- Conduct network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
- Monitor performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
- Track system resource usage, analyse trends, and plan for capacity.
- Provide all levels of support and troubleshooting to address issues.
- Adhere to established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and successful implementation of changes to the network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the company’s security team to select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors and other IT staff to resolve problems and meet objectives.
- Travel with and support the team to at-track events and testing facilities.
- Setup/monitor/teardown trackside IT systems at race & test events.
- Support and maintain trackside IT inventory, examples include several Hyper-V hosts, around 100 Windows VMs, laptops, peripherals, network gear, intercoms, and radio equipment.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of full-time experience as Network Engineer/Administrator.
- Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP).
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF).
- Familiarity with access control models and network security.
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (Aruba, HPE Procurve).
- Strong customer service skills, communication skills, and team-player.
- Organizational and mentoring skills.
- Trackside travel may be required and on short notice.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
- System Admin is a plus.
- Intercom/Radio (Clear-Com, Green-Go) experience is a plus.
- Open-Source tools experience is a plus.
