TeamJobs are seeking experienced and skilled Grinder on a swing shift, to join our client's team in Yeovil. The successful candidates will be responsible for the grinding of aerospace components in strict accordance with manufacturing instructions, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Pay Rate: £***** p/h rising to £***** after 12 weeks
Location: Yeovil, Somerset
Working hours:
- Week 1 - Monday to Thursday (07:00 to 15:30), Friday (07:00 to 13:00)
- Week 2 - Monday to Thursday (15:30 to 00:00)
Key Responsibilities:
- Internal/External grinding using MDI (Manual Data Input) CNC machinery, surface grinding and thread grinding.
- OCQ - Operator Control of Quality (i.e. Stamping to confirm quality of assemblies are to Company and Customer standards).
- To achieve on time delivery by ensuring work is completed on time and to the required standard.
- Interpreting engineering drawings, following the process layout and documentation procedures.
- Working effectively in a lean environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Engineering Apprenticeship (Desirable but not Essential).
- Knowledge of grinding tolerances/ finishes to Aerospace Standard i.e. ******" internal/external diameter, 2-4 Micro Inch surface finishes and concentrate of ******".
- Honing experience.
- Knowledge of hand measuring equipment such as digital micrometer, comparators, air plug gauges and surface finish measuring equipment.
- High standard of Health Safety.
- Adhering to Company Processes Procedures.
- Working in a Customer-focused environment and achieving targets.
- Working with Designers and Engineers.
Skills and Attributes:
- The position requires the applicant to have an understanding of Aerospace practice and the significance of the safety critical work undertaken.
- PC literate.
- Be able to display essential skills in the adherence to Health Safety standards at all times, teamwork, flexibility and the ability to use initiative.
- Machining skills are desirable.
- Proactive and continually looking to develop and learn new skills.
Any further training requirements will be provided: PC skills (incl. Company Operating System), Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, 5S, and general Health Safety.
Please note that a drug screening is required as part of the pre-employment process.
