Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our exclusive client in Yeovil. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer who has experience in the aerospace industry. You will be required to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc., is required. This includes knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field and the ability to work under supervision to perform the functions of the job.
The working hours are Monday to Friday 8am until 5pm, however, there may be some flexibility to work your hours over 4 days. Pay rate is £35.00-£45.00 p/h (depending on experience).
Responsibilities:
- Focusing on REACH obsolescence within our current product range, identifying reach obsolescence and investigating appropriate alternatives based upon product specification.
- Able to support the development concepts design including supporting analysis, with a keen awareness of manufacturing methodologies and a mind on cost.
- Require detailed design work and processing of engineering changes.
- Responsibility for all drawings and associated project documentation.
- Able to work on complex aerospace engineering projects across a variety of remits.
Necessary skills requirements:
- Attention to detail by reviewing existing drawings for reach obsolescence and creating investigation reports.
- Produce detailed designs and layouts to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Be responsible for the completion and checking of drawing packs and any other supporting documentation.
- Be committed to delivering against project schedules and meeting project milestones whilst working within a multiproject team environment.
- Ability to work in a flexible environment and stretch beyond your zone.
- Experience of small component design, design for manufacture principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.
