This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and growing business, taking ownership of operational performance while having a real impact on its people, culture and future development. This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role. We need someone who enjoys being visible across the operation, developing their teams and driving standards - not someone who wants to manage from behind a desk.

Package:

  • £65,000 - £80,000 depending on experience
  • 20% annual performance bonus
  • £9,300 annual car allowance

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Typically 2:00am/3:00am - 10:00am/11:00am, with flexibility required around the needs of the business.

The Role:

You'll have overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the site, leading a sizeable operational team across fresh food distribution, transport and supporting functions. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing managers, supervisors and operational teams
  • Driving operational performance, service levels and productivity
  • Overseeing distribution and transport operations
  • Managing budgets, costs and commercial performance
  • Maintaining high standards across Health & Safety, food safety and compliance
  • Managing stock effectively within a short shelf-life environment
  • Supporting recruitment, retention and workforce planning
  • Improving processes and ways of working across the operation
  • Developing leadership capability and accountability within the team
  • Driving positive improvements around culture, attitudes and behaviours
  • Working closely with senior leadership to support continued business growth

About You:

We're looking for an established General Manager, Senior Operations Manager, Site Manager or Distribution Manager from a fast-paced operational environment. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience within fresh produce, food distribution, foodservice, wholesale, FMCG or a similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, shelf life and stock rotation
  • Experience leading and developing large operational teams
  • Transport and distribution knowledge
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets
  • A strong service-led mentality
  • Experience developing people, performance and workplace culture
  • The confidence to manage different personalities and challenge when needed
  • A hands-on, adaptable and highly visible leadership style

Culture and attitude are hugely important for this appointment. You'll need to be able to build trust, develop people, challenge behaviours and create accountability, while adapting your approach to different individuals and situations.

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting time to join a successful business with significant plans for future growth and investment. You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the operation today while helping develop the people, processes and culture needed to support its future. If you're a senior operational leader who enjoys people, pace, challenge and making things better, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today for a confidential conversation with TeamJobs.
