The Role of Mechanical Design Engineer

Working closely with the Head of Design, you'll play a key role in developing innovative mechanical products and delivering technically excellent engineering solutions. You'll be involved throughout the entire design lifecycle, working on projects that demand precision, creativity and engineering excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading both new product development and existing engineering projects.
  • Designing mechanical components and assemblies from concept through to manufacture.
  • Producing high-quality 3D CAD models and fully detailed 2D engineering drawings.
  • Applying GD&T principles and effective tolerancing strategies to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.
  • Carrying out engineering calculations and FEA analysis where required.
  • Working closely with production teams to optimise designs for manufacture and assembly.
  • Supporting prototype builds, testing and continuous product improvement.
  • Collaborating across engineering and manufacturing to deliver exceptional products.

What Skillset And Experience is Required As Mechanical Design Engineer

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience within a high-performance engineering environment such as marine, motorsport, aerospace or another precision engineering sector.
  • Strong experience creating 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
  • An excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerancing and mechanical assembly design.
  • Experience taking products through the complete design lifecycle from concept to manufacture.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to engineering quality.
  • The confidence to work independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering team.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced engineering environment.
